Production Unit Systems
PTIL designs and fabricates electrostatic desalters which remove dissolved and crystalline salts in crude Oil. Our desalting systems also remove left-over impurities such as finely divided sand particles, clays, iron oxide, drilling muds, Iron Sulphide, Arsene etc
Irrespective of the salt content, API gravity, viscosity and Sulphur content, the professionals at Petro-Techna will design and fabricate a desalting package specifically tailored toward meeting the desired specifications. Apart from the unique efficiency of our desalters, their durability also stands them out in the global market place. Many of the desalters we provided to operators in the Middle East twenty (20) years ago are still in full operation today. Petro Techna utilizes different proven technologies to optimize the process based on the obtained field condition.
Conventional AC Electrostatic Dehydrator/Desalter
The conventional AC (Alternating Current) electrostatic dehydration system is an efficient method to remove high salinity formation water from the crude oil stream. This process relies on establishing a high voltage AC electrical field in the oil phase of dehydrator/desalter vessels. The electrical field imposes an electrical charge on water droplets entrained in the oil stream, thus causing them to oscillate as they pass through the electrodes.
During this oscillation the droplets are stretched or elongated and then contracted during reversal of the imposing AC electrical field. During this agitation the water droplets co-mingle and coalesce into droplets of sufficient size to migrate, by gravity, back into the lower water phase of the vessel for disposal.
PTIL has the expertise to design and fabricate the Dual Wave design utilizes both alternating and direct current through multiple plates to promote enhanced water extraction and chloride level reduction, should the field conditions allow.
The Heater-Treater is one of the most unique innovations developed by engineers at Petro-Techna. The PTIL Heater-Treater incorporates the designed Treater section with an electrostatic heating section. The heating section is provided to raise the temperature of the incoming crude stream to assist the coalescing of the oil/water emulsion. The Heater-Treater is used for the removal of contaminants (both gas and water) from crude oil streams to meet pipeline requirements and to provide a larger volume of sealable oil to refineries.
It is best used in moderate to large volumes of crude installations with crude API’s between 10 and 40, with low foaming characteristics in an oil battery/satellite or central production facility. The water content of the crude outlet stream can be reduced to 1% BS&W using our unique system.
Water Treatment Equipment
PTIL designs and fabricates complete water treatment equipment modules specifically tailored to the unique requirements of each source water and formation. Typical PTIL equipment utilized for water treatment in the field include:
- Produced Water Clarifiers
- Produces Water Solids Contact Unit
- API/CPI Oily Water Separators
The above listed units are highly efficient in produced water clarification, oil skimming, flocculation, desilt and solids removal. Furthermore, standard API separators remove droplets with a droplet size over 150 micron, PTIL API/CPI separators are typically guaranteed to remove droplets as minute as 40 or 60 microns.
Petro-Techna designs and manufactures Pig Launchers and Receivers which are installed in pipelines to launch and receive pipeline pigs, spheres or inspection tools from a pipeline.
Apart from their applicability in the cleaning of pipelines, our pigs can be used for the separation of two products within the same pipeline. There are a number of configurations ranging from simple barrel launchers and receivers through to complete skid mounted units that include actuated valves, instrumentation, pig signallers control systems.
We manufacture units for sub-sea, off-shore and onshore applications. All units are designed and manufactured to the relevant pipeline and vessel design codes.
PTIL designs and manufactures complete multi- wellhead manifolds that help to distribute and route crude oil from oil wells to the production separator. All accompanying high pressure valves and piping, flow meters, transmitters and PLC software for data management are usually included in the PTIL scope. The units are fabricated, preassembled on skids and tested in our certified shop before delivery.
